Lee Maelzer makes paintings about the human need to record events and places and the visual languages. For her first solo exhibition at Poppy Sebire Maelzer will show new works that further develop her fascination for the mediated image; whether that held in the mind, the camera, or the physical archive.
The London-based artist is known for her odd, beautiful and technically adept means of describing facets of the everyday in paint; this particular body of work reflects the experience of flipping through a pile of photographs.

Paintings in Hospitals is dedicated to reducing sickness, anxiety and stress, through the display of art in healthcare facilities across the UK. The work of our charity supports the lives of many thousands of people each year by bringing interest, warmth and colour into clinical environments which might otherwise appear cold and sterile in the hope that the art displayed in clinical environments will improve the outcome of treatment and the well-being of staff and patients.
This is an exhibition of available artwork from Paintings in Hospitals’ London Collection and contains several fantastic new additions, including works by Gillian Ayres, Patrick Hughes, Ian Davenport and Posy Simmonds. Artwork from the Children and Young People’s Collection will also be on display, including digital animations selected in conjunction with the Tate Gallery.

Artist John Rose will be exhibiting a collection of outstanding contemporary photographic based works at Gallery 27 on Cork Street.
The artist, who focuses on the movement, texture and tranquillity of water, will be exhibiting his series Water MMXI which explores, with incredible intricacy, the fleeting moments of moving water.
Rose brings a perceptive originality to contemporary photography; he understands and captures the inherent seasonal elements that affect the look of the water and the way it moves. The weather creates a ceaseless variety of colour, pattern and texture, all of which are translated flawlessly into print by the artist.
